SyncSen is a European Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) project to develop an ultra-low power wireless sensor network for metering applications, reference number FP7-SME-1-2007-222322.

Currently meter readings are done using either the error prone and time consuming walk-by method, or the more expensive drive-by method. There is a significant and timely need to provide gas and water utility companies with a cost-efficient, wireless, AMR technology, providing distance reading methods to increase company’s competiveness and profit margins.

The SyncSen solution allows companies to progressively move from manual meter reading to walk-by, drive-by and fixed metering services.

The system will require no maintenance and will provide authenticable and secure data transmission.

Timely and accurate recording of the consumption will also help to identify any leakages through the analysis of the actual quantity supplied and recorded by the meters.
